Carlos I. Suarez is Executive Vice President and Founder at Continental Strategy, based in Miami with offices in Washington D.C. Suarez has a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors.

Most recently, Suarez served as the Acting Assistant Administrator in USAID’s Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), where he implemented his foreign policy expertise and knowledge of Latin America.

Prior to his position at USAID, Suarez worked as the principal strategic advisor and chief of staff to Ambassador, Retired, Carlos Trujillo, the United States Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS). While serving at the OAS, Suarez championed the development of policy, ensuring its alignment with U.S. priorities and multilateral diplomacy objectives. Focused on helping advance former President Donald J. Trump’s key priorities in the region, he often leveraged congressional leadership to support and propel the U.S. Mission’s initiatives and provided U.S. leadership within the OAS and among other international organizations. Suarez also supported U.S. efforts towards OAS revitalization and public engagement and worked with others to push for fiscal responsibility and reform among member states.

Before joining the public sector, Suarez held management positions within the cruise industry, specifically at Royal Caribbean International and its subsidiary, Celebrity Cruises.

A proud Cuban American and a Miami native, Suarez is bilingual in English and Spanish. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Florida International University. He is married to Jennifer Matas-Sosa Suarez and they have one daughter, Alicia.
