Ambassador Carlos Trujillo (Ret.) is the President and Founder of Continental Strategy and Continental Law, PLLC, a fully service law and lobbying firm. During President Trump’s first administration, Ambassador Trujillo received four Presidential appointments. He also served as an advisor throughout the campaign, an electoral delegate in the 2016 and 2024 Republican Convention and as a Senior member of the Finance team. He previously served as the United States Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), as a Special Representative to the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations and was nominated as Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere. Prior to his post at the U.S. Department of State, he served as an elected member of the Florida House of Representatives for eight years, a founding Partner at a law firm, and as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s 11th Judicial District.
Carlos has a wealth of understanding of United States foreign policy, global politics and domestic and internation business. He is often featured in National periodicals as an expert on Domestic and Foreign Policy. He also advises multiple Fortune 500 companies and Global CEOs.
In 2017, Carlos was appointed by former President Donald J. Trump to serve as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. Carlos led the Mission of OAS which is the oldest regional international organization in the world and held the Chair of the Permanent Council, Budget Committee and the Economic Development Committee.
Before his appointment at the OAS, Carlos was appointed by President Trump to serve as a Representative of the United States to the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations. In 2020, he was nominated by former President Donald J. Trump to serve as the Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere at the U.S. Department of State.
Prior to his work in Washington, Carlos was elected as State Representative to the 105th District in the Florida House of Representatives, where he served in various capacities, including as Chairman of the Florida House Appropriations Committee which required him to appropriate and oversee an $83.5 billion dollar budget. Additionally, he served as Chair of the Economic Development Subcommittee, and Chair of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee.
Carlos serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Victims of Communism, previously served as a Board of Trustee member of Florida International University and of the Public Health Trust of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Carlos earned a bachelor’s in science in Business Administration from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida. He is an active member of the Florida Bar and received an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He is married to Carmen Maria Mir and resides with his wife and four children in Northern Virginia.
